Apartment Monte Cara is a self-contained apartment.
You are not staying in a hotel, but in your own space, with privacy and independence.

The apartment is suited for guests who value a calm, residential setting and a comfortable place to settle in, whether for a short stay or a longer visit.

Where exactly is the apartment located?

Apartment Monte Cara is located in the Santa Filomena neighbourhood on São Vicente.

From the apartment, you look out over the sea, Laginha Beach and Monte Cara, while staying slightly outside the busiest tourist areas.

Is the apartment directly on the beach?

No, the apartment is not directly on the beach.
Laginha Beach is within close distance, but the apartment itself is set back in a residential area.

This location offers the advantage of being near the beach, while avoiding the noise and crowds that can come with staying directly on a busy beachfront.

Why is the apartment called Monte Cara?

Laginha Beach is easily reachable on foot or by a short drive, depending on your pace and preferences.
Its proximity allows you to enjoy the beach during the day and return to a quieter environment in the evening.

Is the apartment suitable for families?

Yes. The apartment is 150 m², offering ample space for families to stay comfortably.
The layout provides enough room for shared time as well as privacy when needed.

Is it suitable for longer stays?

Yes. Apartment Monte Cara is well suited for longer stays.
The apartment is fully furnished and offers enough space, storage and comfort to settle in properly, rather than feeling like a temporary accommodation.



The calm, residential setting also makes longer stays more pleasant, especially for guests who value a relaxed pace.

Is a car necessary?

A car is not strictly necessary, especially if you plan to stay mostly around Mindelo and Laginha Beach.
Restaurants, shops and the beach are within reasonable reach.



That said, having a car can be convenient if you wish to explore other parts of the island at your own pace.

Electricity use

Electricity on São Vicente is relatively expensive and supply can be less predictable than in many European countries.

Normal electricity use is included in the stay. This covers everyday use such as lighting, charging devices, cooking, and reasonable use of fans or air conditioning.

We kindly ask guests to use electricity consciously, especially air conditioning.

Leaving air conditioning running while away from the apartment or using it continuously at very low temperatures is considered excessive use.

If electricity consumption is significantly higher than normal household use for the duration of the stay, additional charges may apply.

Any such charges will always be discussed transparently with the guest.

Nusa Apartments is a small, owner-managed accommodation, run by Leon and Lina, who share a clear idea of what a good stay should feel like: calm, personal and well cared for.

There is no large organisation behind Nusa Apartments — just a hands-on approach and a genuine connection to life on São Vicente.

Our team

Lina is co-owner and host of Nusa Apartments. She is Cape Verdean and works as a nurse, alongside her role in hosting the apartments.

She has a strong connection to São Vicente and a genuine wish for guests to experience the island as it is, its beauty, its rhythm and its everyday life, beyond a purely tourist perspective.

Lina’s involvement brings a local, caring and grounded approach to hosting, ensuring that guests feel welcome and well looked after during their stay.

Leon is co-owner and host of Nusa Apartments.
He is a researcher by profession and is responsible for the overall concept of Nusa Apartments, as well as communication and administrative matters.

His background influences the way the apartments are run: with attention to structure, clarity and consistency. Setting clear expectations and ensuring that everything is well organised behind the scenes are an essential part of his role.

Leon focuses on creating a calm and reliable framework for each stay, allowing guests to feel at ease from the moment they book until their departure

Mindelo Apartments supports Nusa Apartments as a local co-host on São Vicente.

They provide on-the-ground assistance when needed, helping with practical matters related to check-in, maintenance and local coordination. Their local presence ensures that support is available close by, while the overall hosting and communication remain with Leon and Lina.

The collaboration with Mindelo Apartments allows Nusa Apartments to stay small-scale and personally managed, while benefiting from reliable local knowledge and support.
